Coastal life... a symbiosis of marine ecology, unique plant diversity and energizing, beautiful water. In this exhibition, Brake and Soos share their abstract interpretations of life on Coast’s around the world.
Mexico is a place that I visit yearly, and each time that I go I find more reasons to fall in love with the place. From the small, quaint town that I stay in, painting on a vast rooftop with 360 degree views, the sounds of the jungle birds and streets full of colour, music and vibrant people.
This winter (Jan-May 2019), I am taking my art supplies to Mexico for an extended stay. My work will be on exhibition in Victoria at my studio, The Livet and Tres Fantastico. My studio assistant Laurence will be taking care of my practice in Victoria, helping current or new collectors with questions, purchases and shipping.
It’s been about a week since the Opening Reception for my newest works, “CONTACT”, and looking back there’s a lot to be grateful for, and there’s a lot of learning. It started early in the year from the place of inspiration where the art is born from; travel, nature and experiences of the world as a sensitive person. As time progressed the challenge was how to authentically express myself as a visual artist working in the abstract, abstract art being a place where concepts are not as obvious to see, and emotion is open to interpretation. I began to create this body of work and over time, themes of nature, ancestry and space began to unfold in the art. As time passed and the art opening approached, I spent many hours and late nights curating a show that included themes of culture, dance and story telling. This is how it all unfolded, including the story in pictures - click here to read the full post.
